All Languages Canada (www.languagescanada.com) accredited programs require, at an absolute minimum, a bachelor’s degree in any specialization and a TESL Canada recognized certificate. It is a stipulation of their accreditation that all teachers meet this requirement. Of course, schools will also look for experienced teachers but there is a shortage of qualified teaches so meeting these requirements will go a long way in securing a teaching position. Non-accredited schools and programs may not require a university degree.

Language Schools: The most popular locations are Vancouver, Victoria, Calgary, Toronto and Montreal; however there are programs in many other centres.

Universities and post-secondary institutions: Most Canadian universities and post-secondary institutions have attached language programs.

ELSA (LINC): Government sponsored programs for new immigrants are run in every Canadian province.

Tutoring: Either on your own, or with an agency, there are always openings for ESL tutors for non-native speaking school children.

Online teaching: There are many new opportunities to teach students overseas using Skype or other VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) applications.
